1. Application Guidelines
Before applying, please read through the guidelines to ensure your project aligns with our funding objectives.
- Purpose: Civic appropriations aim to support projects that benefit the community, including public infrastructure, community events, and social services.
- Funding Limits: Each project can receive funding up to the amount determined appropriate by the city council.
- Project Duration: Projects must be completed within one (1) year.
2. Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for funding, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a registered non-profit organization or a public institution.
- Demonstrate a clear benefit to the community.
- Provide a detailed project plan and budget.
- Agree to comply with all municipal regulations and reporting requirements.
3. Application Process
Follow these steps to apply for civic appropriation:
- Complete Application Form: Download and fill out the application form [link to form].
- Submit Application: Submit the completed form and all required documents via email to bwatson@leedsalabama.gov or in person at 1400 9th St, Leeds, AL 35094.
- Review Process: Our finance committee will evaluate applications based on the outlined criteria and submit those applications which meet the criteria to the city council for approval.
- Approval Notification: Successful applicants will be notified after the approval of the city budget.
4. Required Documents
Ensure you have the following documents ready for your application:
- Completed application form
- Project proposal (including goals, timeline, and budget)
- Proof of non-profit status or public institution affiliation
- Letters of support or community endorsements
5. Submission Deadlines
- Application Period: Applications are accepted from June 1 to June 30.
- Notification Date: Applicants will be notified of the decision after the budget is approved by the city council.
- Project Start Date: Funded projects must begin by March 1, 2026.
